These days food related branding is my focus which is perfect because it’s the only kind of work I’ll take a trade for. I’ve been doing graphic design since 2002, when I graduated Parsons School of Design, working in licensing (creating style guides for everything from Pokèmon to The Simpsons), packaging (including recreating Futurama’s toy line), advertising, music (including work for the amazing Priscilla Ahn) and many random freelance projects in between. But food has always been my passion. For a few years I worked as a line cook in two very busy, successful restaurants. I also created a non-profit called Closed on Mondays where we took over a restaurant typically closed on Monday, created a pre-fix menu and hustled for one night to do as many covers as we could to raise money for different food initiatives. But kitchen work is not for the faint of heart. It wears on your back and doesn’t pay so everntually I returned to the screen. I now get to break up my time between these projects and in the studio with my hands on clay.insta: @meike_designed
